Check a diamond's price by its certificate number
Every certified diamond carries a report number — its fingerprint. Enter it here and Facet Wire checks whether that exact stone is listed right now, what it costs, and what identical specs sell for at other retailers.

Check a price by specs
No certificate handy — or the stone isn't tracked yet? Enter its grades and we will benchmark them against live listings with identical specs: same shape, color and clarity, carat within a tenth (0.10 ct), lab-grown only ever against lab-grown.
How Facet Check works
A certificate number — labs call it a report number — is issued by a grading lab such as GIA, IGI or GCAL for one specific diamond. It is printed on the grading report, many retailers show it on the listing or the quote, and it is the closest thing a diamond has to a fingerprint: two listings carrying the same lab and report number are, provably, the same physical stone. That makes it the sharpest price-check tool a buyer has. Paste a quote's certificate number into Facet Check before you pay, and you find out whether the same stone — or one with identical grades — is sitting in another store for less.
Facet Wire re-pulls live listings from ten retailers every night and records each stone's shape, carat, color, clarity, certificate and price. When your number matches a tracked listing, you see the stone itself: its live price, its price per carat, and a verdict built from our matching engine. The engine lines listings up only when shape, color and clarity are identical and carat weight is within a tenth of a carat (0.10 ct) — and lab-grown stones are never compared with natural ones. Alongside the verdict you get the median price per carat for that stone's shape and type across every tracked listing, so a single price can be judged against the whole market we watch, not just one rival store.
One distinction we keep strict, because the whole tool depends on it: a certificate match means the same physical diamond, verified by its report number. A spec match means a different stone with identical grades — still the right benchmark for judging a price, but never the same stone, and we label it that way every time. If your certificate is not tracked yet, the spec check above returns the median price per carat and the cheapest live listings for your stone's grades, plus the widest current spread for its shape. Prices are observed from retailer listings in the latest sweep; always verify the final price on the retailer's own page before purchase.
Certificate check FAQ
Type the grading report number from the diamond's certificate into the Facet Check box at the top of this page and press Check this certificate. Facet Wire searches its tracked listings for that exact certificate number. If the stone is listed, you see its live price, its price per carat, and how identical specs are priced at other retailers. If it is not tracked yet, the spec check underneath returns the median price per carat and the cheapest live listings for the same shape, color, clarity and carat window.
The certificate number (also called the report number) is printed at the top of the grading report from labs such as GIA, IGI or GCAL, and many retailers show it on the diamond's listing page or on a price quote. On lab-grown stones graded by IGI it often starts with LG. If you are comparing quotes from a jeweler, ask for the report number — it identifies one exact stone, not just a grade.
It means that exact stone is not in the listings Facet Wire currently tracks. Coverage grows with every nightly sweep across the retailers we follow, and plenty of certified stones are only listed by jewelers we do not track yet. The spec check still helps: enter the stone's shape, color, clarity and carat weight and we will show the median price per carat and the cheapest live listings for identical specs, which is the benchmark a fair quote should be measured against.
No, and we never present it as if it were. A certificate match means the same physical diamond — one stone, one report number — listed at more than one store. A spec match means a different stone with identical grades: same shape, color and clarity, and carat weight within a tenth of a carat (0.10 ct). Spec matches are honestly labeled, and lab-grown stones are only ever compared with lab-grown, never with natural.
Facet Wire re-pulls retailer listings every night, and every price shown is the price observed in the latest sweep, with the data date shown on the page. Prices and availability can change at the retailer, so always verify the final price on the retailer's own page before you buy.
